Underscores, AKA April Harper Grey and Milkfish, is a hyperpop singer - songwriter and producer from San Fransisco, California.
Why I love Underscores
Underscores has inspired me so much in terms of my own music. Her work made me rethink what music could be. I first discovered her through her album Wallsocket, which made me feel so seen as a queer kid from West Virginia (even though the album takes place in Michigan lol).
When her newest project, U, was released, it inspired me to try learning music production. I thought, "I want to make something like this." She executes her ideas SO well through not just her music, but the aesthetics and media surrounding it.
I also just ADORE her writing and production so much. The fact that she does most of it herself is so inspiring and amazing.
