DON'T VISIT BADLANDS.
Those are the Badlands. We don't go there.
Badlands is a 2015 concept album created by alt pop singer / songwriter Halsey. The album is centered around the idea of a dystopian society known as The Badlands, which is used as a metaphor for Halsey's mental state during the time of writing.
BADLANDS WANTS YOU BACK.
In 2025, Badlands recieved a deluxe re-release, and Halsey embarked on their second tour of that year to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the release of the album. During this re-release era, two brand new music videos, one for Drive and one for Gasoline, were released on Halsey's YouTube channel.
CAN'T LEAVE THE BADLANDS.
I first discovered Badlands in 2023, when I first listened to Halsey's discography in full over the course of a single night (i was not on my sleep medication yet). I was enamoured by the project's aesthetics and production, and intrigued by its concept. I watched Halsey's interview with Zane Lowe that she did in 2015 to promote the project, and found the way they explained the album's theme facinating. My favorite tracks on the album are Colors, Roman Holiday, and Strange Love.
