amy joined 4:YOU! at 15 after their company found her covers on youtube. at first, she was told that she would be able to wear her regular style, that she would be a songwriter, and that she would sing on songs in the style of the ones she covered (mainly indie rock), but after a while, the company forced her to dress in more feminine outfits, and stopped recording songs in genres she enjoyed. she also was no longer allowed to help write after their first album. none of the girls were involved in the writing process after their debut. amy stayed in the group out of fear that she would have to go back to living with her abusive father in canada. as amy's chronic illnesses progressed, it got harder and harder for her to perform the elaborate dance routines the company had them do for music videos and shows. shows were also overstimulating to her due to her autism, and much of the noise triggered her PTSD. after concerts, she would cry from pain and exhaustion backstage, but the company did nothing. she also recieved online harassment for her dancing and singing worsening, but was told by her company not to respond and not to say anything about her chronic illness, especially her endometriosis. amy would do lives during her time as a member of 4:YOU!, but would be very limited on what she was allowed to discuss. amy started drinking not long after joining 4:YOU! to cope with the abuse she was experiencing from the company, as well as her PTSD. she quickly grew dependent on alcohol, which eventually developed into full alcoholism.
